A Colorado summer doesn’t get much better than in Estes Park. Tucked in the Rocky Mountains just outside the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park, this mountain town is a go-to spot for warm-weather adventure, scenic beauty, and relaxed charm. Whether you’re seeking high-altitude hikes or just want to unwind by the lake, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy the Estes Park summer season.
Lace Up and Hit the Trails
Summer hiking in Estes Park is as iconic as it gets. With easy access to Rocky Mountain National Park, there are countless trails for every skill level, from peaceful nature strolls to challenging alpine ascents. One of the biggest draws is the diversity of landscapes. Start your day with a sunrise hike around Bear Lake, a trail that offers reflective water views, towering pines, and a picture-perfect setting. For a bit more challenge, try Gem Lake. The elevation gain is worth the reward, with panoramic views over the valley and a hidden lake nestled in the rocks.

What makes Estes Park hikes stand out in summer is the wildflower bloom. By late June through August, trails are framed with colorful petals, buzzing bees, and the occasional hummingbird sighting. Keep your camera close, because the scenery doesn’t hold back. And with wildlife like elk and mule deer frequently crossing paths, your hike can double as a safari.
Afternoon hikes to places like Alberta Falls offer a great way to stay cool thanks to rushing mountain streams and shaded trails. If you’re looking for something less crowded, head to the Wild Basin area for trails like Ouzel Falls, which delivers incredible scenery and far fewer hikers.
Many trailheads start just a short drive from town, and there are even shuttles to some of the most popular routes, making it easy to ditch the car and enjoy the day. Be sure to carry water, sunscreen, and a snack, you’ll want time to sit and soak in those panoramic views. Whether you’re hiking for the views, the quiet, or the challenge, Estes Park’s trails deliver the kind of summer experience that sticks with you.

Cast a Line in Mountain Waters
Fishing in Estes Park is a summer ritual. Between the lakes, rivers, and alpine streams, the area offers some of the best fishing spots in the region. Whether you’re fly fishing for trout in a rushing river or casting a line from the shore of Lake Estes, you’ll find peaceful surroundings and a serious chance of landing your next big catch. The Big Thompson River runs right through town and is a favorite for both locals and visiting anglers.
Licenses are easy to obtain online or in town, and local outfitters can provide gear, lessons, or guided excursions if you’re new to fishing or want to learn the best techniques for the area. You might also consider joining a guided trip to hidden backcountry streams, where the only thing breaking the silence is the sound of your line in the water.
Fishing in Estes Park is about slowing down, connecting with nature, and enjoying the serenity of the surroundings. There’s nothing quite like spending a few hours with your feet in a cold stream, surrounded by pine trees and mountain air. It’s relaxing, grounding, and just one more reason people fall in love with summer in Estes.

Cruise Through the Mountains on Two Wheels
Biking is one of the best ways to explore Estes Park in the summer. With paved paths, challenging climbs, and mountain bike trails just outside of town, there’s a ride here for every level. The Lake Estes Trail is a great place to start. It’s a flat, scenic 3.75-mile loop that wraps around the lake and provides incredible views of the surrounding mountains. Along the way, you’ll spot birds, wildflowers, and maybe even a herd of elk grazing nearby.
For a more adventurous route, the dirt trails within Roosevelt National Forest offer exciting terrain. Mountain bikers love the Hall Ranch and Hermit Park areas for their switchbacks, pine-lined paths, and rewarding views. These routes require a bit more skill and stamina, but they’re worth the effort if you’re looking to break a sweat and get off the beaten path.

In town, bike rentals are easy to find, and many shops offer electric bikes to make the uphill climbs more manageable. Pedal-assisted bikes are perfect for cruising around neighborhoods or tackling gentle hills while still enjoying the scenery. You can ride from your vacation rental to downtown shops or restaurants without ever needing your car.
Another local favorite is Trail Ridge Road. While most of it is better suited for vehicles, experienced road cyclists often take on sections of the road for the challenge and the views. Just remember to start early, wear proper gear, and be prepared for sudden changes in weather.
Biking in Estes offers freedom, fun, and an up-close look at the town and its surrounding wilderness. Whether you’re pedaling along a peaceful lake or racing down a mountain trail, it’s an incredible way to soak up summer.
Summer Fun for All Ages
There’s a reason families return to Estes Park every summer, and a big part of that is the variety of attractions and summer activities in Estes Park, CO beyond the usual outdoor adventures. The Estes Park Aerial Tramway is a must-do, especially for first-time visitors. It takes you from the edge of town up to the summit of Prospect Mountain, offering unbeatable views of the entire Estes Valley. Once you’re at the top, you can explore short trails, take photos, or just enjoy a cold drink with a view.
If you’re traveling with kids or just young at heart, don’t miss the Mustang Mountain Coaster. Located just a short drive from downtown, this alpine coaster lets you race down the mountain on a winding track that’s both thrilling and safe. Riders control their own speed, which makes it ideal for all comfort levels. It’s a quick ride but packs in the fun and delivers sweeping mountain views along the way.
Other summer favorites include local mini golf, go-kart tracks, and the historic Stanley Hotel, where you can take a guided tour or enjoy a bite to eat with a view. For wildlife lovers, summer offers a chance to see elk, mule deer, and even black bears in their natural habitats. Drive through Rocky Mountain National Park in the early morning or evening for your best shot at a sighting. Trail Ridge Road, a scenic byway that cuts through the park, is especially good for both wildlife watching and incredible panoramic views.

Photography buffs will find endless inspiration from the mountain backdrops, wildflower meadows, and crystal-clear lakes. Be sure to bring your camera along for spontaneous roadside pull-offs and quick hikes to photo-worthy spots. Estes Park keeps things interesting for all ages. Whether you’re watching wildlife from a riverside bench, zipping down a mountain coaster, or capturing sunset views from a scenic overlook, the town offers something unexpected around every corner.

If you’ve spent any time in Estes Park, you already know the town is bursting with mountain scenery, access to Rocky Mountain National Park, and a steady pulse of outdoor adventure. But those in the know also understand that Estes Park is making waves with its food and wellness scene, especially at the Estes Park Resort, home to Ember Restaurant and Bar in Estes Park and the Qi Lounge wellness spa. Whether you’re a foodie, a relaxation-seeker, or just want to enjoy a vacation with a little of everything, these two spots offer a perfect blend of mountain luxury, local flavor, and laid-back fun.
A Destination at Lake Estes
The Estes Park Resort sits on the shore of beautiful Lake Estes, and with its easy access to downtown and the national park, it’s a favorite for travelers who want more than just a room. It’s also where you’ll find Ember and The Qi Lounge. What makes this place special isn’t just the address, it’s how food, wellness, and local hospitality come together. Here, every guest feels like they’re in the know, with a front-row seat to the best of Estes.

Ember Restaurant & Bar
Walking into Ember, you get a hit of warmth, both from the sun streaming in through lakefront windows and the open, modern-mountain design. There’s a hint of the West in the wood and stone, but nothing about Ember feels rustic or stuck in the past. It’s an energetic, stylish spot, where locals gather for a special night and out-of-towners feel instantly welcomed.
The brainchild of Chef Sean Gafner, Ember draws on his farm and ranch upbringing as well as years of culinary training in California and Colorado. Chef Gafner is known for his hands-on approach, attention to detail, and a true respect for the ingredients. His motto? Use the best, treat it well, and always aim for a little delight in every dish.
Fresh, Inventive, and Locally Inspired
Ember’s kitchen is fearless about flavor. The menu is Modern American at heart, but always with a twist, whether it’s a French technique on a Colorado steak, a Southeast Asian accent on the house pork belly, or a Mediterranean touch in the roasted veggie plates.
Start with their house-made burrata, creamy and fresh, paired with blistered tomatoes and crusty local bread. Or try a Colorado spin on tapas: bison meatballs in a tangy tomato sauce, or the wildly popular crispy Brussels sprouts tossed in a spicy honey glaze.

Seafood is always a hit here. Depending on the season, you might find seared scallops with sweet corn puree and chive oil or salmon served with Colorado potatoes and local greens. On chillier nights, the elk and venison entrees offer a hearty, game-forward option you’d expect in the Rockies – yet elevated, never heavy.
Vegetarians are not an afterthought. You’ll see wild mushroom risotto, creative salads with local goat cheese and beets, or roasted cauliflower steaks with vibrant, herbaceous sauces. Even the side dishes, think truffle mac and cheese, crispy smashed potatoes, or glazed root vegetables, are plated with a chef’s touch.
Sweet Endings and Crafted Cocktails
Don’t skip dessert. Ember’s pastry chef puts out crowd-pleasers like the flourless chocolate cake (a favorite for gluten-free guests), seasonal fruit crisps, or a tangy lemon panna cotta that feels like summer in a bowl. House-made ice creams, often featuring flavors like lavender or bourbon-pecan, cap off the meal.
At the bar, you’ll find a cocktail menu that changes with the season. Signature drinks like the smoked old fashioned and lavender lemonade are local legends. The bartenders use fresh herbs, local spirits, and house-made syrups, with a focus on balanced, creative flavors. Prefer wine or beer? The list leans Colorado-heavy, with some well-chosen West Coast and global bottles for good measure. The rotating craft taps spotlight the best of Colorado’s booming beer scene.

More Than a Meal
Dining at Ember is about more than just food. Service is warm and personal, servers genuinely know the menu and are eager to help, not just upsell. The dining room buzzes with energy, but there are plenty of cozy nooks for quiet conversation, and larger tables for groups. Ask for a window seat if you want sunset views over Lake Estes, or head to the patio for fresh air and firepit vibes on summer nights.
Ember is a local favorite for birthdays, anniversaries, and big group celebrations. The team goes the extra mile with special menus, creative dessert presentations, or custom cocktails if you let them know you’re celebrating. They love seeing familiar faces and welcome visitors as new friends.
In winter, the fireplace and mountain views make Ember a perfect spot to warm up after a day on the trails or slopes. In summer, the doors swing open to the lake breeze, and the restaurant hums with people winding down after hikes or just soaking up Estes Park’s golden hour.

Events and Community Connections
Ember doesn’t just serve food; it’s part of the Estes Park scene. From wine tastings and cocktail classes to chef’s table dinners and live music nights, there’s always something happening. The bar is a magnet for locals and visitors, hosting everything from brewery tap takeovers to New Year’s parties and themed dinners for special occasions.
Chef Gafner and his team are committed to supporting local charities, using local purveyors, and participating in community events year-round. This keeps the vibe authentic—never touristy or corporate. You’ll often see staff and regulars swapping tips about the best local hikes or what’s new around town.
The Qi Lounge in Estes Park
Directly upstairs, The Qi Lounge offers a different but equally memorable experience. This is Estes Park’s most acclaimed wellness spa, and it’s dedicated to holistic health, relaxation, and transformation.
From the moment you enter, the Qi Lounge feels peaceful – soft music, herbal aromas, natural materials, and stunning views of Lake Estes and the mountains. Staff welcome you with tea, calm energy, and a genuine interest in your well-being.

Spa Treatments for Every Need
Qi Lounge offers a full menu of massage and bodywork, from classic Swedish and deep tissue to more specialized options like hot stone therapy, prenatal massage, and sports recovery. Their signature Qi Massage is customized to your needs, blending several techniques for a deeply personal and restorative experience.
If you’ve been hiking or skiing, book a sports massage to work out sore muscles. If you’re looking to truly unwind, try a CBD-infused treatment or a sound bath session, where crystal bowls and guided meditation help quiet your mind and restore your balance.
Energy work is a big part of the spa’s philosophy. Reiki, craniosacral therapy, and integrative healing sessions are offered by highly trained therapists. If you’re new to holistic wellness, the staff are happy to explain options and make you feel comfortable.

Wellness for Couples and Groups
The Qi Lounge is perfect for solo travelers or couples. Book side-by-side massages in a private room or plan a spa day as part of a wedding, anniversary, or friends’ getaway. Group bookings can include a mix of treatments, plus time to relax in the lounge or on the outdoor deck with mountain and lake views.
Throughout the year, the spa hosts wellness workshops and events—yoga classes, guided meditations, nutrition seminars, and even private wellness retreats for groups. Locals return regularly for maintenance and stress relief; travelers love the ability to truly relax between adventures.
Amenities and Atmosphere
The spa’s relaxation lounge, herbal tea bar, and serene changing rooms make it easy to linger before or after your treatment. You’re encouraged to take your time—there’s no rush. The Qi Lounge aims to be a sanctuary in every sense, and the experience is tailored to how you want to feel, not just a menu of services.
Many guests book both Ember and Qi Lounge for the same day. Maybe a spa treatment in the morning, then dinner and drinks by the lake in the evening. This “day at the resort” approach is one reason so many people return each year, making it their go-to for anniversaries, girls’ weekends, or special occasions.
The Perfect Setting
The location of Ember and The Qi Lounge can’t be beat. The Estes Park Resort sits on a peninsula with panoramic views of the lake, the peaks, and the surrounding meadows. It’s an unbeatable place to watch the sunrise with a coffee or sunset with a cocktail. In warmer months, the resort offers bike and boat rentals, walking trails, and easy access to fishing and wildlife watching.
Winter brings its own magic, with snow-capped peaks, a peaceful frozen lake, and cozy fireside lounging. Being just a mile from the heart of downtown Estes Park means you’re close to shopping, art galleries, and the famous Riverwalk, but far enough for total peace and quiet at night.

Memorial Day Weekend has often been described as the unofficial kickoff to summer shenanigans, and although your Estes Park weekend getaway may not feel like the summer you are used to, the weather will be nice, the temperatures will be warmer, and your adventures will be ones you never forget. And because you chose Voyago Vacation Rentals for your holiday hideaway, we can assure you that your weekend will also be comfortable and luxurious. This guide to planning a 2025 Estes Park Memorial Day weekend getaway will paint a beautiful portrait of an All-American holiday filled with the best adventures, giving you a little something extra to look forward to in the weeks leading up to your Colorado vacation.
Estes Park Art Market, May 24-26, Bond Park, 170 MacGregor Avenue
Speaking of painting portraits, there will be plenty to peruse, as well as pottery, paintings, sculptures, jewelry, and so much more at the Estes Park Art Market held every Memorial Day Weekend! The Fine Arts Guild of the Rockies hosts the market, spotlighting local artists and those from surrounding states, and because art isn’t just limited to things you can buy, there will be live music playing all weekend long. Food trucks will be onsite so guests can linger over the cool woodcrafts, fiber art, photography and art glass that will be on display as well, ensuring that all mediums will be represented during this 40 year old event!

Trail Ridge Road Scenic Drive
In the mountains there are times when you just can’t drive on certain roads, and although the Trail Ridge Road is one of those that is closed in the winter, Memorial Day Weekend is when it opens once again. Offering one of the most stunning drives in the nation, it is also the highest continuously paved road, reaching an elevation 12,000 feet and featuring the most spectacular panoramic views. Mountains surround you in all directions, and for once in your life, 48 miles (the length of the scenic drive) will seem too short, even as you should plan on taking the entire day to explore all that can be seen along your route. Technically it will only take 1.5 hours each way, but you will want to pull into the designated parking areas you find along the road, taking pictures and wondering why you can’t live here year-round. It will be colder at these higher elevations, so be sure to bring a coat!
Open Air Adventure Park, 490 Prospect Village Drive
Memorial Day Weekend isn’t just the kickoff to summer, it is also when Estes Park seems to awaken after the beautiful and cold weather, and the Open Air Adventure Park is another fine example. Opening on the holiday weekend after being shut down all winter long, guests can enjoy a large number of outdoor adventures, including the 32 challenges offered in the Aerial Adventure Section for which you will get at least 90 minutes to conquer. Featuring ziplines, balancing equipment, rope ladders and many other exciting ways to release your inner acrobat, this fun park is one of the best parts of summer in Estes Park. Oh, and if you have any frustrations you need to release, their ax throwing adventure will help you release whatever may be bugging you without blowing your top!

Angling for a Good Time?
Fishing is a popular activity in Colorado any time of the year, including over Memorial Day, and there are a variety of lakes, rivers, and ponds in the area where you can cast your line, but Lake Estes is probably our favorite place to catch our dinners. Standing in the cool waters, hip boots keeping most of the water out of our pants and casting a line that will attract the big trout is definitely a summer activity that will bring you vacation memories you will cherish forever. And if you are used to more traditional methods of fishing or are not quite sure of your flyfishing skills, Fly Fish Estes Park, 363 E Elkhorn Avenue Suite 305, offers guided trips that will help you stay in the flyfishing game!

We at Voyago Vacation Rentals believe there are two types of travelers: the ones who head to the beach every summer, and the ones that understand that the mountains are truly the only place they want to be. Offering long days filled with outdoor adventures, temperatures that never rise too high, and in the case of Estes Park, vacation properties that will comfort and keep you warm on chilly summer nights, this guide to getting a head start on your Estes Park CO summer vacation planning for your Estes Park getaway will give you a better understanding as to why the mountains are going to offer your favorite vacation experience!
Pack for Adventure
Sometimes the most difficult part of vacation planning is trying to figure out how to pack your luggage, but you’ve got Voyago Vacation Rentals on your side, and we make difficult things easy. Your Colorado adventures are going to take place outside mostly; the beauty of our landscape, the moderate temperatures, and your zeal for adventure will ensure that there is nowhere else you want to be. The weather, even in the summer, can get chilly at night, so layers is the key word. Bring t-shirts, jackets, umbrellas, and of course, comfortable walking shoes and extra socks in case your feet get wet. The Colorado sun can be bright, so sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats are highly recommended, and hydration packs can make a long hike feel refreshing. And although we don’t really have to tell you how to pack your carry on, we would like to remind you that a couple of bags of pretzels really won’t hold you over and jerky can help you avoid a hangry flight.

Plan Your Hikes in Advance
The trails of Estes Park range from easy to difficult, ensuring that novice hikers will have a great time and experienced hikers won’t be bored. The Bear Lake Loop lasts less than a mile and is one of our easiest trails, offering stunning views of the lake, the trees, and the mountains. Dogs are not allowed on this trail, but it only takes about 15 minutes to complete, so feel free to leave your fur baby at home if you need to. The Gem Lake Trail extends out just over 3 miles and offers an elevation gain of nearly 1000 feet; it is a moderate trail that features incredible views of the Rocky Mountains, Estes Park, and of course, Gem Lake, a crystal-clear body of water that offers a reflection of the mountains in its still waters. And last but not least, our diehard hikers simply must experience the Chasm Lake Trail, a favorite of hikers from all over the world. This 8-mile trail has an elevation gain of 2552 feet, and your muscles will feel every step you take, but the views from the peak will be worth every muscle ache!
Prepare to Feed Your Soul
Your vacation meals in Estes Park are going to be the ones you dream about long after you return home, and whether you are preparing to gorge yourself with a hearty breakfast at Mountain Home Café or are thinking that a special occasion meal at Seasoned: An American Bistro will enhance your vacation experience, we can assure you that with every bite you will be feeding your soul. Life is meant to be lived, and you will never feel more alive than when surrounded by your family devouring a meal from any of our local restaurants.
Plan on a Day in the Park
Open Air Adventure Park, located at 490 Prospect Village Drive, offers outdoor adventures you will never forget, featuring ziplines, air boards, and hanging chairs as well as ax throwing adventures, kayak tours in Rocky Mountain National Park, and hiking tours that will make you fall in love with the stunning landscape of the park. Sometimes the best way to get to know the area you are visiting is with a tour and the tours offered at the Open Air Adventure Park will certainly make you fall in love with this part of Colorado.

Plan on Relaxing at Home on Your Estes Park, CO Summer Vacation with Voyago
As much as you will love your outside adventures in Estes Park, it is the moments spent at home in our seasonal sanctuaries that will create the most treasured memories. Easter is just a few short weeks away and this is the year that you decided to make your vacation dreams come true, planning a trip to the mountains of Estes Park and of course you have already booked your accommodations with Voyago Vacation Rentals. And for some, the difficult part is what comes next, planning an itinerary that will help you keep your old traditions while encouraging new ones and we can assure you there is better place on earth to do both than right here in our hometown. This guide to planning an Estes Park Easter getaway you will never forget may be the first step in starting a new tradition, traveling to Estes Park every Easter.
Traveling Unencumbered
Celebrating the holiday with your family is the most important part of Easter, but we can almost hear your children’s reaction to the news that you were spending the holiday in Estes Park. Tears may have threatened, feet may have stomped and demands about how the Easter Bunny was going to find them would have left their sad little mouths. You, of course, would have reassured them that the hopping bunny knows all, and made a mental note to remember to pack the baskets in your luggage. But Voyago knows a few things too, and one of those things is the fact that baskets don’t travel well, and kids are little detectives, often finding out all the things we try to keep hidden. So, leave the basket at home and when you arrive in town, run over to Dollar General at 451 Stanley Avenue or Dollar Tree at 461 E Wonderview Avenue, and pick up a basket, the colorful grass, and maybe a few trinkets to put inside; spending less on the basket ensures that you won’t feel bad about leaving a brand new basket behind.

Easter Egg Hunt
Easter is a holiday that is celebrated all weekend long here in the mountains with the YMCA of the Rockies Dorsey Museum offering an Easter egg hunt on the Saturday before Easter. (Easter falls a little later this year, on April 20.) A craft center on the premises will also offer arts and crafts sessions that will build the anticipation for your kiddos and add color to your holiday. Also offering snacks and perhaps even a visit with the big bunny himself, the pre-holiday activities offered in Estes Park truly make this area a family friendly vacation destination spot.
As the Sun Rises
There is a quiet beauty found in the sun rising over the mountains that surround Estes Park, and we can’t think of a better way to start your celebration of Easter. Maybe you are used to rising this early, participating in your own sunrise services back home, or maybe this will be your first Easter sunrise, but either way, no other sunrise will hit like ours. The way the sky cycles through all the colors before settling on golden sunshine and blue. The cold air, so fresh and clean, filling your lungs as you snuggle deeper in your winter clothes, or the blanket you wrapped around your shoulders before stepping out on the balcony or patio of your Voyago Vacation Rentals holiday hideaway. The anticipation of what you are about to witness, the quiet hush of a world that hasn’t awakened, and the knowledge that you can climb back under the covers of your warm and cozy bed for a couple more hours of sleep makes your sunrise in Estes Park an adventure you will cherish forever.

Easter Brunch
You could create your own feast at home in the fully equipped kitchen of your vacation retreat, but an Easter brunch at Brunch & Co, located at 333B East Wonderview Avenue D is an Estes Park tradition that we can’t wait to experience every year. Offering a three-course prix fixe menu filled with holiday inspired brunch dishes, we tend to make piggies of ourselves each time we attend, but a good Easter hike later in the day always helps to counteract all the extra calories. Because you know we are eating every bite of all three courses and are sneaking treats from the Easter baskets throughout the day!
Hop on Over to Our Estes Park Easter Cabins
Your favorite moments may be the ones you enjoy in our holiday hideaways, relaxing in front of a fire, watching holiday movies on state-of-the-art televisions, and hosting your own private egg hunt for your favorite tiny travelers. Easter in Estes Park brings a beautiful blend of excitement and tranquility to the table and an Easter spent in our Voyago Vacation Rentals escapes adds comfort and luxury to the mix. Reserve your favorite holiday Estes Park vacation rental today and start a new family tradition of enjoying a Colorado vacation every year!
Estes Park is a quiet town in the spring months. Travelers, for the most part, seem to wait for summer to make their way to our mountain hometown, eager to experience all that the solstice brings, unaware that they are missing out visiting during one of the best months of the year, and, of course, we mean the month of April. Spring flowers flood the meadows, the mountains, the little culverts that may be running on either side of the roads that lead into town and our Voyago Vacation Rentals Spring sanctuaries reflect the beauty of those flowers, waiting for you and your family to grace our doorsteps and relax after long days of hanging out in Estes Park Colorado in April and attending these wonderful April events.
First Friday Art Groove, April 4, Downtown Estes Park
The most beautiful towns attract the most talented artists and if you don’t believe us now your beliefs will change after participating in our First Friday Art Groove. This fun event is a repeating one, taking place on the first Friday of every month (Oh, so that’s how it got its name!), the various galleries and shops that make up the downtown area of Estes Park stay open a little later, inviting visitors to take a self-guided tour of their wares. And because it isn’t just art galleries and shops you can explore during this event, you will also enjoy drink specials, snacks, and live music at the breweries and wineries (we call them Drop Stops) that can be found on the Art Groove route. The tour map can be found at this link. If you can’t make it on First Friday, you can still check out all the galleries, shops, and Drop Stops, by following the map at any time during the day.

Environmental Film Festival, April 11 & 12, Historic Park Theater, 130 Moraine Avenue
We know how lucky we are to live in an area with such a stunning landscape. The Rocky Mountains standing guard over fields of flowers, rising high and often reflecting in the clear and quiet waters of the lakes that can be found at their base. The trees just beginning to bud in April and the flowers pushing their way out of dark and fertile soil; we could spend hours talking about how beautiful the scenery is in Estes Park, or you could just go out and explore it yourself, after attending the Environmental Film Festival that takes place every year in our historic Park Theater. Offering 2 days of films that celebrate the environment, food, drink, and live music (when you aren’t watching movies) this festival will make you appreciate how much kinder we need to be to Mother Nature.
Bigfoot Barbecue, April 25
April 25 & 26th are about to become your favorite days of the month if you happen to be in Estes Park at the time. Bigfoot Days are coming to our mountain town and the event always starts off with a Bigfoot themed barbecue, live music, delicious drinks, and the chance to mingle with some very special local celebrities. They haven’t announced the location of this fantastic dinner as of yet, but there will be information as we get closer to the big day.

Bigfoot Half Marathon, April 26th
The Bigfoot Half Marathon and 5K is always a good time for those who love to run, and during the beautiful weather we expect at the end of April, you won’t want to be anywhere else but outside playing. Taking runners through some of the most beautiful parts of town, you can run as fast as you want or as slow as you need, because this isn’t really a competition it is just the means to get to the end, where the real fun begins, starting with a free Lumpy Brewing Company beer that will almost be waiting for you at the finish line!
Bigfoot Days Festival, April 26
Estes Park is known for its Bigfoot sightings, especially during Bigfoot Days in April. Offering music, food, fun, and a veritable crowd of Bigfoot guests, including some TV celebrities, you may think our town is kind of weird, but that’s ok. We are a bit strange and we embrace that uniqueness with fun events such as the Bigfoot Days Festival. Bring your kids, your dog (leashed please) and your sense of whimsy and spend the day discovering everything you have needed in your life and as the kids play on inflatables and the adults browse tables of art and crafts, you may become a believer in Bigfoot as well.

There are a lot of reasons you have chosen to make a spring journey to Estes Park, but we bet that tops on your list is the stunning landscape that surrounds our mountain town, offering a variety of outdoor activities that will enhance your vacation experience. And because spring can be a little confused, some days it will feel like winter, others it will be balmy and pleasant, but no matter which season decides to rear its head during your visit, your stay in our Voyago Vacation Rentals seasonal sanctuaries will always be warm and welcoming. This guide to the best Estes Park outdoor activities you can enjoy in the spring will give you a sneak peek into a vacation that you will compare all others against from here on out!
Chasing Waterfalls
As winter tags out and spring steps up to the plate, the frozen tundra of Estes Park begins to come alive and the waterfalls in the area are perhaps where you will notice it first. The melting of snow and ice creates waterfalls that are especially dramatic this time of year, swollen and full, and as the frothy waters tumble over stones and ledges, the photos you take will be magical and worthy of framing. Mother’s Day hits in May, so maybe a family portrait taken in front of the waterfall would be a fantastic gift. And if you want to enjoy the jackpot of waterfalls, the Wildbasin Trailhead, located just a bit outside of Estes Park, offers the opportunity to see three falls in one hike and it is only about 5.4 miles long. Copeland Falls, Calypso Cascades and Ouzel Falls are the three that will steal your heart.

Explore Trail Ridge Road
Trail Ridge Road is the highest continuous paved road in the nation, crossing the Continental Divide and traversing Rocky Mountain National Park as it ascends to over 12,000 feet and serves many different purposes throughout the year. In the winter months, it is closed as a road, but is a very popular ski, snowshoe, and hiking trail as the snow blankets not just the road, but the entirety of the park. On April 1st, although it is still closed to cars, the road is plowed and turns into the number one item on a bicyclist’s bucket list, a biking trail that is second only to Mauna Loa for being the longest climb for bike riders. Taking bicyclists on the ride of their lives, the steep climb will also test your strength with muscles you probably didn’t know existed making their appearance known. Following a trail that was once used by the original settlers of this region, the Native Americans, there’s a joy that will be found in the views, in the crisp cold of the air (it will get colder the higher you climb) and being able to ride on the street without the distraction and fear of other cars.
Where the Babies Are
This next adventure is perhaps the sweetest of all, offering visitors the chance to see mama and baby wildlife meandering around the area, with Memorial Day Weekend being the optimum time to see most. Elk calves, mule deer fawns, big horn lambs, and if you are lucky, the sight of baby otters frolicking in and around the Colorado River on the west side of the park. The last set of babies promises to increase the cute factor of your Colorado spring vacation and if you can get pictures of them, it will also increase your cool factor with anyone who wasn’t able to come along for this trip of a lifetime. The best spots to see all the darling little babies may be in Moraine Park, Beaver Meadows, and Horseshoe Park; just be sure to use your telephoto lens and stay at least 75 feet away from protective mama elks, for your safety and theirs.

Dry Fly Fishing
Fishing is a popular spring activity in Estes Park, but there is one time of year, a very slim margin of time, in which anglers can toss a dry fly. This happens before the major snowmelt takes place and the hatches start to surface and if you haven’t tried it before and think you want to, Kirk’s Flyshop, 230 E Elkhorn Avenue offers gear rentals, fishing trips, and all the information needed for your first time or hundredth time of fly fishing.
Hot Tub at Sunset
Your favorite outdoor activities may be the ones you enjoy at home with Voyago Vacation Rentals, especially if one of those activities is sitting in a hot tub watching the sun set behind the Rocky Mountains. Reserve your favorite seasonal Estes Park vacation rental today and discover all the ways a spring journey to Estes Park will be one you will wish could go on forever!
When it comes to vacation rental management, choosing the right property manager can mean the difference between a high-performing rental and one that struggles to attract guests. Many property managers still rely solely on third-party platforms like Airbnb and Vrbo to book properties. While these platforms are useful, they are no longer the best way to run a vacation rental business effectively. Times have changed, and property owners should seek out Estes Park property management companies that offer direct marketing services to maximize their revenue, control their bookings and increase their visibility.
1. Diversified Revenue Streams for Increased Income
Relying exclusively on Airbnb and Vrbo means placing all your eggs in one basket. These platforms take a significant percentage of booking fees, and their pricing structures fluctuate. A manager that employs direct marketing strategies ensures that your rental is not solely dependent on third-party listings.
A direct marketing strategy includes multiple channels for guest acquisition, such as email campaigns, social media marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), and direct booking websites. By having a diversified strategy, you benefit from repeat guests, lower platform fees, and greater overall revenue.

With Voyago Vacation Rentals, we implement dynamic pricing strategies, meaning we don’t just depend on algorithm-based pricing from platforms. Instead, we analyze the market to ensure the best rates for your rental. We also promote direct bookings through our own website, social media platforms, and retargeting campaigns, ensuring that our homeowners maximize their income.
Another significant benefit of diversifying revenue streams is the ability to build relationships with past guests. When guests book directly, managers can capture their contact information and create loyalty programs, offering incentives for repeat bookings. This ensures that your rental maintains a steady stream of visitors without the added cost of listing fees from third-party platforms.
Additionally, direct marketing allows for promotional flexibility. Property managers can offer seasonal discounts, last-minute deals, and special promotions tailored to specific audiences. With Airbnb and Vrbo, discounting options are limited and often controlled by platform algorithms. Having direct control over marketing ensures that property owners can implement strategic pricing that maximizes revenue while filling calendar gaps.
2. More Control Over Who Books Your Property
When using only third-party platforms, property owners have limited control over who books their rental. While Airbnb and Vrbo provide guest screening tools, they still prioritize their own policies over individual homeowner preferences. Direct marketing allows for a more hands-on approach to guest selection, ensuring that the right clientele stays in your home.
At Voyago Vacation Rentals, we take guest vetting seriously. We implement strict screening procedures for direct bookings, ensuring that guests align with the type of clientele you prefer. Direct booking channels also allow for customized communication with guests, setting clear expectations and reducing risks associated with problematic guests.

Property owners who depend solely on third-party platforms are also vulnerable to last-minute cancellations, fraudulent bookings, and damage disputes. With direct bookings, managers can implement stricter cancellation policies, require security deposits, and establish guest agreements that provide legal protection. These safeguards ensure that owners experience fewer surprises and have more recourse in case of disputes.
Another advantage is the ability to build relationships with guests before they even arrive. Instead of relying on automated responses from Airbnb or Vrbo, direct booking management allows property managers to engage with guests, answer questions, and set expectations. This level of customer service often leads to better guest experiences, higher satisfaction rates, and more positive reviews.
Beyond guest screening, having control over bookings also allows property owners to manage seasonal demand more effectively. Many third-party platforms limit a host’s ability to personalize booking criteria, which can lead to calendar inconsistencies. With direct bookings, property managers can implement strategic rules, such as minimum stay requirements during peak seasons and flexible discounts for extended stays. This ensures optimal occupancy rates and maximized revenue for property owners.
Furthermore, direct bookings provide the opportunity for customized guest experiences. When working directly with guests, managers can offer personalized touches, such as welcome packages, tailored recommendations, and direct communication for special requests. This enhances the overall guest experience and increases the likelihood of repeat bookings. Personalized experiences often lead to better reviews and word-of-mouth recommendations, strengthening a rental’s long-term success.

3. Greater Visibility Beyond Standard Booking Platforms
A vacation rental’s visibility is often limited when relying solely on Airbnb or Vrbo. These platforms have thousands of listings, and algorithm changes can affect your ranking overnight. Without a direct marketing strategy, your rental could struggle to get noticed among the competition.
A manager who employs direct marketing services can boost your property’s exposure through SEO-driven content, targeted advertising, and social media outreach. At Voyago Vacation Rentals, we invest in marketing strategies that increase visibility and engagement. Through our optimized website, we attract organic traffic, ensuring guests find your property without needing to scroll endlessly through listing sites. Additionally, our targeted social media ads and paid search campaigns ensure your property gets seen by the right audience.

Direct marketing also enables a property to appear on multiple channels beyond vacation rental sites, such as travel blogs, regional tourism websites, and digital ad networks. Having a diverse online presence ensures that travelers searching for a vacation rental in your area can find your property with ease.
We also implement strategies like email newsletters, retargeting ads, and influencer collaborations to keep properties top-of-mind for potential guests. This long-term visibility means that our owners do not have to rely solely on third-party ranking algorithms to generate bookings.
Another advantage of direct marketing is that it allows for targeted advertising based on audience demographics, behaviors, and travel trends. By analyzing data and guest preferences, property managers can tailor marketing efforts to reach the right audience at the right time. This approach leads to higher conversion rates and improved booking efficiency compared to generic platform-based marketing.
Additionally, direct marketing strategies help establish a property’s unique identity. Rather than getting lost in a sea of listings on Airbnb or Vrbo, direct marketing allows properties to showcase their distinctive features through branded storytelling, custom website content, and engaging visuals. This strengthens the rental’s competitive edge and attracts guests looking for a memorable and personalized stay.A vacation rental’s visibility is often limited when relying solely on Airbnb or Vrbo. 4. Building a Stronger Brand and Guest Loyalty
Brand recognition is one of the most overlooked aspects of vacation rental success. When guests book solely through Airbnb or Vrbo, they associate their stay with those platforms rather than with your property. A direct marketing approach allows property managers to create a recognizable brand, leading to stronger guest loyalty and repeat bookings.
With direct marketing, we nurture relationships with past guests through email marketing, exclusive promotions, and personalized guest experiences. At Voyago Vacation Rentals, we encourage guests to book directly with us for future stays, offering incentives and exclusive deals not available on third-party sites. This approach leads to higher guest retention, repeat visitors, and ultimately, more revenue for property owners.
Another advantage of brand recognition is the ability to attract referrals. When guests associate their experience with a specific rental brand rather than a third-party platform, they are more likely to recommend it to friends and family. Strong branding efforts, from a professionally designed website to a unique guest experience, contribute to long-term rental success.
Building a brand also fosters trust and credibility among travelers. A well-maintained website, positive guest reviews, and consistent branding across social media platforms create a sense of reliability that encourages potential guests to book directly. When travelers recognize a brand as a trusted vacation rental provider, they are more likely to return for future stays.

Additionally, a strong brand presence enables property managers to implement exclusive perks and loyalty programs. By offering repeat guests discounts, referral incentives, and VIP experiences, vacation rentals can foster a loyal customer base that generates steady bookings throughout the year. Over time, this reduces reliance on costly third-party booking platforms and ensures long-term sustainability for rental properties.

5. Long-Term Stability and Reduced Dependence on Third-Party Changes
Airbnb and Vrbo frequently update their terms, fees, and algorithms, which can have a direct impact on bookings and profitability. Many property owners have experienced sudden policy shifts, stricter cancellation terms, and increased service fees, all of which affect revenue.
By working with a property manager that emphasizes direct marketing strategies, you create a sustainable rental business that isn’t subject to unpredictable changes on third-party platforms. Voyago Vacation Rentals ensures that our homeowners have consistent, long-term bookings through our diversified approach, so even if Airbnb or Vrbo undergo major changes, your rental business remains strong.
For example, many third-party platforms have introduced increased commission fees over the years, cutting into property owners’ profits. Direct marketing reduces reliance on these platforms, giving owners more control over pricing and revenue allocation. This stability ensures that properties remain profitable even when industry conditions shift.

Another advantage of reduced dependence on third-party platforms is the ability to tailor rental policies and pricing strategies without external restrictions. Property managers can adapt to market demand, adjust rates, and introduce seasonal offers without being subject to standardized pricing structures imposed by booking sites. This flexibility allows for a more strategic and profitable approach to vacation rental management.

It may seem a little strange to be thinking about Spring Break when you can still hear the echoes of the big three holidays, but welcome to adulthood; time zooms by, and if you aren’t paying attention, it will be too late to do anything to celebrate! Now, under most circumstances, Spring Break is supposed to be about saying goodbye to winter and wishing our way towards summer, but here in Estes Park we celebrate the frosty season, feeling thankful that it lasts a little longer in Colorado than it does in most parts of the world. If you are of like mind and find yourself dreaming of a Spring Break getaway where the snow still falls and the fireplace in your Voyago Vacation Rentals wintry escape brings warmth, this guide to how to spend an Estes Park spring break will give you the opportunity to explore winter a little bit longer.
Pick Up a New Sport
March is our snowiest month (yay!), and when the snow is falling and the landscape is covered in fresh powder, we love to go for a walk or hike. We put on our warmest clothes, our snow goggles that are tinted because the sun will reflect brightly off all that white, and slip into our most stylish winter shoes—snowshoes, that is. Snowshoeing has been a popular way to walk on snow for thousands of years, but unless you live in a snowy spot, chances are you have never tried it before. Estes Park Mountain Shop, 2050 Big Thompson Avenue, is where we suggest you head for rental snowshoes, and if you are unsure about trying the sport out all by yourself, they also offer guided tours that will start with a little tutorial. Glide into a serene walk through the wilderness where the chance you will see some wildlife, including elk, moose, and fox, will be very strong, ending with a sense of awe over all you have just seen and a sense of accomplishment will make this Spring Break adventure one you will never forget.

Frozen Dead Guy Days, March 14-16
Frozen Dead Guy Days is a weird and wonderful festival that takes place on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, celebrating Grandpa Bredo, who is currently over 120 years old. The story of how he died, why he was frozen and living in a Tuff Shed in nearby Nederland, and why he moved to the Stanley’s old ice house is a fascinating one that will be told during your festival adventures. Offering coffin races, cold beers, hot bands, and a Frozen Dead Bar Crawl, this fun-derful event was tailor made for a Spring Break journey in Estes Park.
Fly Fishing, Big Thompson Canyon
Some of the best fishing can be done in March and April, making a spring fly fishing trip a very popular activity. The water is low and clear, the trout begin to surface, hungry after being under the ice for most of the winter, and eager to grab your line, making it almost impossible not to catch your limit. It is still cold in the spring months, so be sure and dress warm for this adventure. Kirk’s Fly Shop offers guided trips if you are looking for someone a little more experienced in the area to help out a little.

A Tour of Breweries
Beer and Spring Break go together like peanut butter and jelly and the breweries in Estes Park are destined to make Spring Break your favorite vacation of all. Avant Garde Aleworks (920 Dunraven Street), Estes Park Brewery (470 Prospect Village Drive), and Lumpy Ridge Brewing Co. (531 S St. Vrain Avenue) are a few of our favorites, but what if wine is more your beverage of choice? Don’t worry, we’ve got you with Snowy Peaks Winery, located at 292 Moraine Avenue. Oh, and don’t forget Elkins Distilling Co (137 E Elkhorn Avenue) and Full Throttle Distillery and Grill (231 Moraine Avenue) for those in a more spirited state of mind!

Just as a special event in your hometown can make your real life that much brighter, a special event involved with a vacation can make your vacation life that much brighter, and although on the outside, it doesn’t look that exciting, February 5th is Book Direct Day, and upon closer exploration will be a very exciting part of your vacation experience. Offering a better way to choose your Estes Park cabin rentals in ways we will be describing further down the page, Book Direct Day is our favorite day of the year, and we at Voyago Vacation Rentals think it will soon be yours as well. This guide to why you should book direct on this most exciting day of the year will give your Estes Park vacation planning a little boost of wonderful and ensure that you may just wait until Book Direct Day happens every year to book your next vacation escape!
What Exactly Does It Mean to Book Direct?
Before we go any further, it is important that you understand exactly what booking directly means, and yes, it is a very simple concept that won’t involve a lot of thought process. Simply put, Book Direct Day celebrates going to the website of the vacation home you are considering and booking directly from them. This means skipping the big-name vacation rental sites like Airbnb. It really couldn’t be any easier, don’t you agree?

What You See Is What You Get
If you have ever booked on those Airbnb or VRBO you may have already realized that you don’t always get what you see on the page. Maybe the listing photos aren’t updated frequently enough or maybe something happened to the rental you booked between the time of booking and the time of arrival, but when you walked in the door for the first time you were probably less than pleased. When you book direct from Voyago Vacation Rentals, however, what you see is what you get, and walking inside for the first time will be like greeting an old friend again, especially as you have spent more than a few spare moments poring over every picture as you seek an escape from the chaos of your real life and build the anticipation of your trip of a lifetime. We know how important those pictures are, and we update them regularly, and although we may try to choose their best “side,” we promise that no unwanted secrets are waiting to pop out at you upon your arrival.
That Personal Touch
On the big vacation rental sites, guests aren’t cherished, they are just thought of as numbers, numbers that represent how much more they can add to their own profits, to be exact. When you book direct on February 5th, you become a part of the Voyago family, and we work with you to ensure that your Estes Park vacation is one you will remember forever. Need an earlier check-in? Just shoot us an email. Need a later check-out, do the same and all those moments in between? Know that we cared enough to provide all the wonderful amenities that you are enjoying at the end of your days of Colorado adventures!
Book Direct Estes Park Vacation Rentals, Save Money
The final and perhaps most important reason for booking direct on February 5th is the simplest one: It costs less to book direct. There are no fees assessed for the privilege of using Airbnb, no extra parking costs, resort costs, or breathing their rarefied air charge. And because we want you to reap the benefits of skipping the middleman, the prices we charge on our own website are lower than if you find the same property anywhere else. Yes, you read that correctly; we are bribing you to come to our page because we too want to avoid the fees those rental sites charge! Saving you money also leads to a more satisfied customer, and if you find yourself wanting to return again next year, don’t forget to save more money by booking direct from our Voyago website.
